"The idea of moving sand pictures was born in the early sixties when a couple of art students in California made a research project on kinetic art. One of their outcomes was the sand picture! In the eighties, I started painting with water, pencil and oil. However, I found that too boring. As I strove to find the art technique that would permit me to express my feelings of an ever changing world, my friend introduced a sand picture to me. He said, 'Klaus, you will love this.'
